Known by locals as Tongtakien Bay, this small beach nestles between Lamai and Chaweng, and is a delightful spot just off the main road between those main centres. With three beach resorts there can be moderate crowds during peak season (December) but when it’s quiet – which is most of the time – it is a great place to chill and take in the stunning surroundings: crystal clear turquoise waters, powdery white sand and craggy limestone boulders surrounded by lush tropical greenery. This is everyone’s idea of a paradise beach!
Although a little shallow during low tide there is good swimming to be had to the north of the bay at all times, and the warm clear waters are delightful to wade through, with plenty of fish to see around the rocks and reefs. Grab a snorkel and enjoy the sights.
Each of the three resorts offer reasonably priced seafood dishes – nothing exceptional but good fuel for a hard day on the beach! The Samui Yacht Club rarely has any yachts, but is a popular spot for poolside dining for guests and residents alike.
There are lots of options for holiday rentals in the surrounding hills and its proximity to Lamai and Chaweng makes this area particularly attractive for anyone wanting to get away from it all but dip into the busier centres just 10 or 15 minutes drive away.
